Sometimes caring means leaving them alone
It’s another rainy Saturday now. It’s lovely, driving me to watch “Otenki
Onee-san” once again. It’s still funny. I was planning to the grass on front yard, but I was
overslept. haha. What an excuse. Too lazy to open the door and pull some weeds.
I think I should call my gardener.
The back yard is a mess, as well. So many new ugly weeds during this
rainy season and like many other people, I choose to stay inside. But, I left
some onions outside last week and they grow! I hardly watch them, not to mention watering them. I don’t
spray fertilizer either, and yet they turn bigger. I’m not sure how long they’d
survive, but watching these greens is just amazing. Sometimes, abandoning is
caring.
This kinda reminds me discussion with my senior last week. She came with
a question whether it’s humane for us to leave Anak Dalam Tribe as they are.
You see, the unique tribe is making the news because their life style couldn’t
ensure them enough food. They’re starving, and yet they refuse to join modern
life. More and more forest area of their environment has been turned into
corporate or government belongings. They are pushed to the edge. Is it okay to
leave them dying?
All I can say that what rights to we have to judge others’ life style?
Everyone follows his or her own policy and values. We can’t force our ideal to
them. We shouldn’t. Life is not about having it comfortable, but—I think we’re
agree—it’s about happiness. My happiness might not your happiness and what
makes you happy might not do the same to me. Do you think Anak Dalam Tribe will
be having leading modern life? Don’t they have their own local wisdom to carry
on?
So, instead of pulling them here, we should try to preserve their
natural habitat. Government should stop making side to the riches. Anak Dalam
Tribe is part of this nation and they have the rights to be protected.
