It can be arranged

It’s not hard to find veiled women on street lately. girls wear head cover has become trend instead of only religious act. Celebrities launch their hijab collections, giving more reason for girls to dress up. 

Time has changed. Back in my school days hijab is just had the beginning of its popularity. various school regulation against it, including the rule of showing your ears on pictures. It’s stupid and I’ve through some intimidating responses. 

It’s not easy to wear hijab that time. But, I was in elite group: top students in school, A grade class members. I think that made things easier. It’s not easy to strike the people with high accomplishment. We showed that wearing hijab was what smart people do. 

It took me years to finally cover my head. I’ve been thinking about it since last year in elementary school, but Mom discouraged me. It was only 4 years later I finally pushed. Both of us wear hijab at the same day. So, yesterday when we were talking about how a girl is not wearing hijab, she said “Wearing hijab can be arranged, right? It’s easy.” I took a 2 second breathe before saying, “I’m not sure. I think we’re the ones who know it best that wearing hijab is not easy. Took us years before doing so. Do you think it’s like buying book? Not at all, Mom.” 

Seriously, even though a lot of girls wearing hijab today, but they’re not really covering their aurat. I went to Thamrin City last two weeks just to found the new trends in women head cover. They like pashmina, the long fabric to be rounded on their neck through the head. But, most of them can’t cover the bosoms. The trends completely forgot: 

"And say to the believing women that they should lower their gaze and guard their modesty; that they should not display their beauty and ornaments except what (must ordinarily) appear thereof; that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and " (Qur'an, An Nuur:31).

My friend kept persuading me to buy one and I just said, “ I don’t know how to use it.” However, if they think deeper what I really mean is “ I don’t think I can lower my level to yours. It’s a betrayal to my knowldge”.

I believe each of us must through long thought to come to decision of what to wear. Those who don’t wear, those who wear it roughly, and those who follow the qur’an. None take it easy and it can’t be arranged.
