I finally step on the western island of Indonesia, Weh Island. The municipality is Sabang city and it can be reached by speed boat from Banda Aceh or flight from Kualanamu Airport of North Sumatra Province. It's a small island, only 153.00 km2 and our tour guide let us circling the city from 11 am to 8 pm.
I've been hearing about the amazing spot of snorkeling in the city, so when our accommodation lady offered to join the snorkeling tour, I agree spontaneously. I bring my snorkel stuff, of course. Read my snorkeling idea here.

Unlike the other part of Aceh Province, Weh Island didn't suffer from tsunami 12 years ago. However, it's after the tsunami that the tourism area is developed. Although the place is small, there are a lot to see: 4 beaches surrounded the city; old Japanese buildings; small islands where you can visit in group boat tour; seafood culinary and of course the water sports.

3 wells beach

it gets the name because there are 3 wells on the beach that even though it's located on the white sand it bears purify water. Local people use the wells for bathing, washing dishes or laundry. One of the wells also provides a water supply for a toilet.

Japanese Castle

Located in the outskirt of the archipelago, the island is an ideal place to watch. Japanese built some castles on the beach in the colonial era. It's no longer used and local government doesn't seem to be interested in taking care of them to be used as tourist spots. The rocks are now shaped by weather and the wind, bringing exotic look like this:

The sea is calm, allowing people to swim like in swimming pool. But, one thing for sure: none is allowed to wear a bikini. XD.
