Do you watch NHK's dorama, HardNut? If you haven't, I think you'll like it. It's about a mathematic student called Nanba Kurumi who helps detective Tomoda cracking various cases using math formulas. Kurumi is a genius who always stuck in her professor's room to challenge new problem.

Kurumi doesn't have friend. Well, at least that's what it looks to me. There was this girl who asked her for help in poker game, but after Kurumi cleared her debt, she never approaches her again. Aaah, the reality of smart people is somehow so sad.

However, do you think she's lonely?

I don't think so. She looks so happy facing numbers on her blackboard and computer. She's excited to check every anomaly. Though she's alone, she doesn't feel the time flows so fast.

I do believe there are times when we feel lonely. Alone is a terrible feeling when you realize you're by yourself. But, if you think that being alone makes you what you are, then the lonely feeling should be swept away.

We're feeling lonely because we compare ourselves with someone else. Happiness is ipsaptif. You can't compare your happiness to another's. The measurement is clearly different for each of us.
