Today is an exciting day as it marks the beginning of my much-anticipated research trip to Semarang. We started our journey from the office at exactly 8:30 AM, traveling in our trusty office vehicle, a Hi Ace. The ride was smooth and uneventful, which was a pleasant surprise considering it’s the school holiday season. The toll roads were surprisingly clear, allowing us to travel at a leisurely pace without the need to rush. It was the perfect start to our adventure.

Midway through our journey, we decided to make a pit stop in Cirebon for lunch. We had heard rave reviews about a local eatery called Nasi Jamblang Mang Dul, located at the edge of the city, and we couldn’t resist checking it out. As we pulled up to the restaurant, we were greeted by a long queue at the entrance, a sure sign that the place was popular. It was around 11:52 AM, just in time for a hearty lunch.

The first thing that caught our attention was the bustling atmosphere of the restaurant. It was packed with people, all eagerly waiting to get a taste of the famous dishes. Nasi Jamblang Mang Dul is renowned for its signature dish, empal gentong. This delightful dish is a yellow soup filled with small cuts of tender meat. When I took my first bite, I was pleasantly surprised by its sweet and savory flavor. It was absolutely delicious and paired perfectly with rice.

One unique feature of Nasi Jamblang is the way they serve their rice. Each portion is quite small, almost like a cat’s portion of food, but it’s wrapped in leaves, giving it a distinctive and aromatic flavor. The restaurant offers a variety of side dishes displayed on the table, allowing customers to choose from an array of options such as chicken, fish, squid, eggs, and more. It was a feast for the senses, and we enjoyed every bite.

After our satisfying lunch, we felt refreshed and ready to continue our journey to Semarang. With our stomachs full and our spirits high, we hit the road again, eager to reach our destination. The scenic drive and the pleasant company made the trip enjoyable, and we spent the rest of the journey chatting and laughing.

As we approach Semarang, I can’t help but feel a sense of excitement and anticipation. This research trip promises to be an enriching experience, and I am looking forward to the days ahead. With a great start like today, I am optimistic that this trip will be both productive and memorable. Stay tuned for more updates from our adventure in Semarang!
